"Dowry Death"

A newly-wed youth allegedly committed suicide after he was reportedly pressurized by his in-laws to live in his wife's house and sever all ties with his parents. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Yadav (27), who was working as a computer operator in Delhi Electric Supply Undertaking (DESU). The incident was reported from the New Friends Colony area in southeast Delhi on Thursday. According to the police, Yadav got married on April 17 to one Aradhana (name changed to protect identity). He was living in the DESU colony at Sarai Kale Khan after their marriage. The police are investigating the death as a simple case of suicide. "If we get further proof, we will initiate action,'' a senior officer said. According to allegations made by Yadav's uncle, Vijay Pal, problems began the day he got married. "We objected to his in-laws' demand that he will have to stay at Aradhana's house after marriage. However, they threatened to lodge a dowry case against us. We got confused and agreed to the proposal. We never knew Deepak was under such pain due to this. Last night, his father-in-law called us and said Deepak was unwell. Before we could react, the police called up to say that we should reach AIIMS as Deepak had committed suicide,'' said Pal. "We will study the postmortem report and will also look into the allegations after we go through Yadav's suicide note thoroughly,'' said a senior police officer.

vandanaji, sorry to know about your personal case. good that you are not considering all men bad... but my intention of posting this news article is not to show women in poor light...it is to sensitise the society in this forum to understand that men suffer the same way as women...dowry cases were hitherto confined to wives..now even husbands are suffering.

vandanaji, Santokh, what reality have i exposed about myself ? In just a few lines can anyone know what is my personality at present and what i was in the yesteryears-----------------------------------------------------------------------------I don't think Santokh is referring to your personal life. He is probably referring to the fixed mindset that people have - when men talk about discrimination, they are immediately dubbed woman-haters. but if women talk about discrimination that they face, they are hailed as feminists and libbers. isn't this a disgusting attitude? Why can't men complain about women? those men who complain about discrimination of men are not man-haters...we are men of intelligence and self-respect. How can you accuse me of being a woman-hater in just a few lines of my postings on men's rights???

vandanaji, Rohandharesh, c'mon, im not accussing u of anything. Infact, going through all your previous posts i simply felt that u dislike females. May be iam too simple to comment on your posts. Only a legal expert ( legal specialist ) lady can discuss with u. Anyway, carry on .. Gud luck!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------by pointing out to discrimination that men and husbands face in society, it does not amount to hating women....women are in so many forms, like mother, sister, wife and daughter. Not just wife. lastly one does not need legal experts to take cognisance of discrimination....you need to be humane with common sense.

arun, how does that matter??? If you cannot see and recognise this as a reverse case of dowry death, you need to change your attitude....question is do you stand for justice (Men and women) or do you stand for women alone?

Mr Rohan, please read santokh "When people often focus only on What is Written and What is Said , they only get the ** % of the information !!!" you cannot decide your attitude on **% information. as far as news paper reports are concern I can reproduce more than ten dowry death cases, but I know that only **% are actually dowry death, rest are fabricated and reason for death is other than dowry at least.

Yes this proves that is not only females who are suffering even males are suffering equally. I am not anti female, but yes fact is our law always supports females, in fact must say our law is anti - male, coz it blindly supports female, even though most of the time its known that lady standing in court is telling lie. So the ultimate solution is to make some changes in law. and if im not its already under consideration

I generally hate people threatened or commit suicide its not the right way for any issues. Finally the person die is looser and the other survives (even if he is being put behind bars).
